Socio-Historical Background of the Development of the System of National-Patriotic Education of Youth in the Western Ukrainian Diaspora in the Second Half of the 20th Century – the Beginning of the 21st Century

Abstract

The analysis of historical background of the development of the system of national patriotic upbringing of youth in western Ukrainian diaspora in the indicated period is done by the author of the article. The contribution of prominent teachers of Ukrainian diaspora on its formation is investigated. It is found out that the main background of the development of the system of national patriotic upbringing of youth in Ukrainian diaspora became the third wave of migration of the Ukrainians to the countries of western world, the overwhelming majority of which consisted of educated patriotically tuned people, intelligentsia and scientists. National education is intended to promote the establishment of spirituality, to prepare citizens capable of independent thinking, social choice and activities aimed at prosperity of the state. Among the main causes of the processes taking place in Ukraine, in particular military operations on the territory of the Donbas, there are shortcomings in the system of national education. The current situation attaches particular importance to the national and patriotic-state education of young people, the formation of her desire and ability to stand for the defense of her native fatherland. There are settlements of Ukrainian emigration in all the countries – in Europe, America and Australia, Ukrainians organized in their own national socially public organizations, which took care of culturally spiritual and material needs, legal support of their countrymen. Ukrainian youth was and it is still for now especially active in its work for the benefit of the Ukrainian people and its liberation struggle. The youth in the life of every community is the future. The future of community depends on its young people. Education of young people under the emigration conditions is an important problem in the development of Ukrainian community. The role of native language in Ukrainian diaspora was also revealed. The meaning of terms migration, diaspora, Ukrainian edifying systemand the educational ideal has been opened out. The main features which must characterize a Ukrainian according to the educational ideal are given off. The main stages of creation of Ukrainian scientific system are studied and its components are systematized.
